I was an early fan of The Simpsons, watching their satirical shorts on The Tracey Ullman show in 1987. Bart Simpson’s alter ego, Bartman (1991), is a parody of Batman. Here, the juvenile crusader is focused on an alternative adventure. Side quests are often novelty seeking. They can blur priorities and lead to distraction and procrastination. But side quests can also be productive, informative, and create a sense of accomplishment. I consider the entire 'Party Pooper' series a side quest. The cartography behind Bartman is a drawing I made in 1983.
