- FANBOYS GO TO COLLEGE!
Four super paintings make an appearance in a super group exhibit at Goucher College. It's time for Supernatural: In The Face of Danger!

In this exhibit eight artists explore various aspects of heroes and their place in culture. Superheroes are making their way into many contemporary artists’ visual lexicon. Epitomizing the timeless battle of good versus evil, the hero and villain offer a narrative in which the righteous always prevail. These artists expand upon these notions, offering viewers a unique and fresh perspective.

Featuring works by F. Lennox Campello, Ric Garcia, Carla Goldberg, Jeannette L. Herrera, Simon Monk, Richard Schellenberg, Andrew Wodzianski, and Nicholas Zimbro.

An artists’ reception will be held Friday, September 18, 6-9 p.m., with an artists’ talk at 7:30 p.m.

Supernatural: In the Face of Danger at the Silber Art Gallery inside the Athenaeum will be presented from Tuesday, September 8, to Sunday, October 11. This exhibit, which is free and open to the public, can be viewed Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- IT'S TURTLE TIME AT THE G40 ART SUMMIT
Get your TMNT on with Art Whino's latest iteration of G40.

Art Whino’s signature, month long art summit returns for the sixth edition of its immersive experience

Presented by Art Whino, the annual G40 Art Summit group art show brings together world-renowned artists for a month long exhibition, with works in Low Brow and street culture expression, that reflect a particular theme.

The 2015 G40 event will once again be a building ‘takeover,’ showcased at a 20,000 square foot site in the heart of H St Corridor at 700 H Street, NE. The event is also the first for the ‘Whino on H’ satellite location of Art Whino, bringing a whole new experience focusing on entertainment.

With an ‘Installation’ exhibition theme, participating artists will create their own artistic environments with large scale art pieces which they will superimpose their canvases and works on paper.

The 2015 G40 Art Summit will also include a large group show including works from over 70 different artists from around the world, providing audiences and viewers a broad cross section of the wide variety of work that falls into the Low Brow genre.

To compliment the more than 500 pieces of art exhibited inside the space, the exterior of the building will be painted by Polish artist Pener (Bartek Pener Świątecki), with a dramatic mural wrap.

Pener will paint the H Street and 7th Street sides of the building, completely transforming the exterior on a very busy corner into a large-scale work of art for the community and aficionados of street art alike. Continuing with the G40 tradition of month-long programming in conjunction with the exhibition, there will be a range of events and activities for patrons to enjoy and return to see the exciting space multiple times.

- VOLTRON'S CORPSE
http://www.artisphere.com/calendar/event

WEDNESDAY MAR 27 – SUNDAY MAY 5, 2013
Curated by Jared Davis and Andrew Wodzianski

Fifteen artists commemorate the anniversary of the first human spaceflight (known as Yuri’s Night), while addressing space exploration's transition from a mission of man, to a mission of robots. Fusing the early 20th century parlor game "Exquisite Corpse" with the pop culture sensibilities of the late 20th century most notable the 1985 anime series Voltron Force, these artists have accumulated a factory floor of interchangeable robotic segments. Segments on canvas will be assembled and reassembled throughout Artisphere’s Works in Progress Gallery in regular intervals, creating an astronomical amount of robot configurations.

Thursdays / 5-6pm / Live re-assembly of canvas segments by curators

Closing Reception: Sunday, May 5 / 12:30-2pm
Please join the artists of Voltron's Corpse for coffee and donuts during this exhibition's closing event. Meet the artists and see them reunited with their robotic creations after six weeks of reconfiguration on the walls of the Artisphere's WIP Gallery.
