This artwork is a sequel to a self-portrait I painted in 1999 titled 'How I’m getting to Graduate School.' I depicted myself without a shirt on my back, holding a credit card. Behind my figure was a collage of credit card solicitations. Here, I am clothed in cap and gown. The collage element is now a stand-in for a diploma and indicates the terms of my student loan consolidation. Should my child pursue higher education, I will support whatever path she chooses and I hope I can be of financial assistance.
