My first recollection of artificial intelligence was the golden protocol droid from Star Wars. C-3PO is depicted with a helpful, pleasant demeanor. Today, such superficial conduct glosses over problematic programming and infrastructure. Billed as a tool for workforce augmentation in 2026, the laws of Moore and Wright may soon prove otherwise. “You Are Obsolete” is also a reference to The Twilight Zone’s The Obsolete Man (s2, ep29)
