Both my octogenarian mother and father were hospitalized with septic shock in 2023 and 2025 respectively. Each treated for ten days in intensive care, they miraculously survived. Sepsis is a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection. The infection-fighting processes turn on the body, causing the organs to work poorly. Sepsis is not hereditary although that won’t stop my concern of encountering it in the future. Here, Tom Wilson’s Ziggy character acknowledges his unfortunate diagnosis.
